A new tool on YouTube will assist artists in dubbing films into various languages. The online video-sharing site revealed Thursday at VidCon 2023 that it will be utilising Aloud, a product from Google’s in-house Area 120 incubator.

Google Aloud, an AI-powered dubbing solution, was unveiled last year. It can automatically transcribe a video and make a dubbed version of the same. It also allows you to check and change the transcription before creating the dub. Until now, content creators had to rely on third-party programmes or suppliers to create videos in many languages.

Here’s a video that Aloud dubbed. Simply click on the gear icon, choose Audio Track, then select the language you wish to hear the video in.

Aloud is now available in English, Portuguese, and Spanish, with plans to add more languages in the near future, including Hindi and Bahasa Indonesian.

Hundreds of creators have begun testing the tool, according to Amjad Hanif, YouTube’s vice president of Creator Products, and it will be available to everyone soon. Hanif also mentioned that generative AI will allow Aloud to add features like voice preservation, lip reanimation, and emotion transfer in the future.

YouTube introduced new partner programmed criteria for video creators last week, as well as a ‘1080p Premium’ option for some Android and Google TV customers.
