Qualcomm, an American chipmaker, launched the Snapdragon G-series line for handheld gaming devices on Monday. The series includes the G1, G2, and G3 models, as well as the latest enthusiast-class processor, the Snapdragon G3x Gen 2 Platform. Qualcomm claims that the new Snapdragon G-series family is designed to meet the performance and functionality requirements of dedicated gaming devices.
Mobile games are best experienced on dedicated handheld gaming devices. “However, gamers want to be able to play all of their favourite games on any device or ecosystem, whether it’s their console, PC, or a cloud service,” said Mithun Chandrasekhar, senior director of product management at Qualcomm Technologies, Inc.
The new generation of Snapdragon G Series powered devices will be the perfect spot for gamers to play their favourite titles while on the road, allowing users to pick between the cloud, console, Android, or PC.
Qualcomm Snapdragon G1 Specifications
The chips in the range are aimed at entry-level devices and are meant to enable fanless portable gaming devices for game streaming from local or across the cloud. The Snapdragon G1 is focused on lag-free connectivity and battery life, according to Qualcomm. The Snapdragon G1 Gen 1 Platform is the first member of the Snapdragon G1 family, and it features an eight-core Qualcomm Kryo CPU and the Qualcomm Adreno A11 GPU.
Qualcomm Snapdragon G2 Specifications
The Snapdragon G2 Gen 1 Platform is the first product in this tier. With an optimised processor paired with 5G and Wi-Fi 6/6E connectivity powered by Qualcomm FastConnect 6700 mobile connectivity system, it is said to allow full-featured mobile and cloud gaming. The first in the series includes an eight-core Kryo CPU, a gaming-optimized Adreno A21 GPU, and the Snapdragon X62 5G Modem-RF System.
Qualcomm Snapdragon G3 Specifications
The Snapdragon G3x Gen 2 Platform is the most recent addition to the enthusiast-class G3 lineup. The Snapdragon G3x Gen 2 Platform features an eight-core Kryo CPU and an Adreno A32 GPU, which the firm claims will give over 30% better CPU performance and up to 2x faster GPU performance than its predecessor.
The most recent platform also offers multigenerational performance enhancements along with high-end gaming features like hardware-accelerated ray tracing, game super resolution, XR glass tethering, low-latency premium Bluetooth audio with Snapdragon Sound Technology Suite, Wi-Fi 7 High-Band Simultaneous (HBS), and 5G sub-6 and mmWave.
