  • Whatsapp mentioned on its support page that the most recent selection maintains all the messages in the chat and this new setting will not affect your earlier sent or received messages.
  • If the user does not open the message till seven days, the message will delete automatically, but the preview of the message might be displayed in notification until the WhatsApp is opened.
  • In a message either you send a text, photos, or video, it will wipe out the message after seven days and the message will disappear from both sides. For saving the message you can take a screenshot before it deleted or you can turn off the auto-download in WhatsApp settings >> Data & Storage usage.
  • For saving the message before it deleted, you can quote that message.
  • You can save the message from getting disappear by saving a backup because the message will be included in the backup.

How to switch on or off the disappearing message feature

For Switch On

  • Open the particular Whatsapp chat
  • Click on the contact’s name.
  • Click on the disappearing messages
  • Select to enable this feature

For Switch Off

  • Open the particular Whatsapp chat
  • Click on the contact’s name.
  • Click on the disappearing messages
  • Select to enable this feature

Once this feature is disabled, the messages in the chat will not disappear automatically until you delete them. The most important thing to note here is once the disappearing message feature is enabled so there will be no option to alter the time frame of auto-deleting the message.
