On his Facebook page, Mark Zuckerberg posted the news and stated that the new verification subscription feature was intended to “increase authenticity and security across their services.”

His message said, “This week, we’re launching Meta Verified, a paid membership service that gives you direct access to customer support, the ability to acquire a blue badge, further impersonation security against accounts posing as you, and additional impersonation protection. Increasing authenticity and security across all of our services is the goal of this new functionality.”

According to CEO Mark Zuckerberg, the membership would also guarantee priority customer help and additional security against impersonation.

Blue and Meta verification

The Meta Verified is being tested in Australia and New Zealand On the web, it will cost $11.99 (about €11.20) each month, and on Apple’s iOS and Android,  it will cost (about $14.99 ) each month

If you have a few additional dollars to spend each month, you may simply purchase the blue tick. Elon Musk launched Twitter Blue in 2022, under which anybody may purchase the blue tick and become verified on the microblogging service. Following suit, Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, has announced that users may purchase the blue tick for a monthly charge. The Meta Confirmed is now being tested in India (approximately Rs 1,240) per month on iPhones. It is unclear when Meta will bring verified services to India.

Blue and Meta verification

Elon Musk reacts on Meta verification Responding to news of Meta following the footsteps of Twitter and selling blue ticks for a price, Elon Musk commented and remarked that the action was fairly ‘inevitable’. The billionaire responded to a tweet in which Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said that the new authentication method was “copying” Twitter.

Difference between Twitter Blue and Meta verification

The tendency to choose is the key distinction between Twitter Blue and Meta verification. Instagram still offers the chance to get verified via traditional means, although Elon Musk’s Twitter no longer allows it. If someone meets Instagram’s eligibility requirements for verification, they can still do so without having to pay anything. Twitter, however, is an exception to that rule.

Also, Musk has been very explicit that everyone who became verified on Twitter before the launch of Twitter Blue would have their blue ticks removed. Musk claims that the legacy blue ticks are “corrupt” and will be eliminated shortly.

Other social media subscriptions

It’s a very similar Elon Musk’s $8-per-month “Twitter Blue” membership service.

Twitter’s debut last year backfired, resulting in an embarrassing rash of phoney accounts that terrified advertisers and put doubt on the site’s sustainability.

Musk was forced to temporarily halt the effort before resuming it in December to a lukewarm welcome. However, Zuckerberg emphasised that existing Facebook and Instagram accounts will not be affected.

Several social media applications, such as Snap Inc’s Snapchat and messaging app Telegram, announced paid membership services as a new income stream last year.
