Google Bard's YouTube extension can now understand video content and answer complex queries.

Google added a new feature to Bard’s YouTube extension, allowing it to answer complex questions about videos on the world’s most popular video sharing platform.

While most of us are looking for new ChatGPT features, Google has been regularly updating Bard with new features and deeper integrations. Earlier this year, Google introduced a new YouTube extension for Bard, which allows the AI chatbot to analyze and recommend videos based on user queries.

The most recent Bard update allows the YouTube extension to understand YouTube and even answer complex queries like ‘how many eggs the recipe in the first video requires’ when searching for videos on how to make an olive oil cake.

According to Google, the feature was added after Bard users expressed a desire for the YouTube extension to do more. The new feature can be useful if you want to get specific information from YouTube videos, such as key points or recipe information, without having to watch them.

While this is beneficial to YouTube users, it may be problematic for content creators because it can generate summaries and answer complex queries without requiring them to watch the video.

If you want to try Google Bard’s YouTube extension, navigate to the chatbot in your browser and click the extension button in the top right corner.

Turn on the YouTube extension on the following screen, and you’re ready to go. We asked the generative AI chatbot how many eggs a vanilla cake recipe requires, and the answer was fairly accurate.

If you intend to use the feature to get answers about sensitive topics, such as the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict, Google recommends switching to search to get the most up-to-date information on the subject.
