Apple maps and google maps both belong to different companies and have different data and privacy guidelines. Apple makes a valid point on focusing on privacy than google because most of the data saved on the device and not on the cloud. Data gathered by maps like search terms, navigation route, traffic information, and etc. The app will not record the history of what your search for.

Google maps is senior to Apple maps. Google Maps has been around since 2015 and has had plenty of time to add new features and fix bugs.
