Apple launches AI-ready iPhone 16 series: Check India pricing

Apple launched the iPhone 16 series on September 9, with significant upgrades and changes to the standard and Pro models. Apple confirmed that the new iPhones are designed specifically for Apple Intelligence, with the fresh A18 chip on the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus and the A18 Pro chip on the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max.

The iPhone 16 series will be available for pre-order in India beginning September 13, with general availability on September 20. The details are as follows:

What’s new with iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus?

The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus feature significant performance and utility improvements, as well as notable cosmetic updates like vertically stacked rear camera sensors.

The iPhone 16 models are powered by the new A18 chip, which offers the same performance boost as the Pro models. The A18 chip includes a 16-core Neural Engine (Neural Processing Unit) for AI tasks, allowing on-device processing for future Apple Intelligence features.

It also includes a 6-core CPU (Central Processing Unit) and a 5-core GPU (Graphics Processing Unit), with the GPU capable of advanced gaming features such as hardware-accelerated ray tracing. The A18 chip will also allow iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus users to access AAA video game titles that were previously only available on Pro models.

The standard iPhone 16 models have a new 12MP ultra-wide camera with autofocus. Apple has also added spatial photo and video recording capabilities to the standard iPhone models.

Apple has replaced the Mute Switch on base iPhone models with a customizable Action Button, which is similar to the Pro models.
