Apple’s new HomeKit architecture will reportedly be available in iOS 16.4. However, it is unclear whether the update will be a new version or a bug fix, according to AppleInsider.
The information was gleaned from a code found in public smart home standards. In December of last year, Apple temporarily removed the option to upgrade to the new HomeKit architecture on its devices.
The Home app was having complications and issues after the update was deployed on devices running iOS 16.2 when the iPhone manufacturer made the statement.
Users have complained of problems with HomeKit devices showing a “updating” or “configuring” status for an extended period of time, gadgets disappearing completely, invitations to share the home with other users failing, HomeKit Secure video recording not working, and many other things.
It was anticipated that iOS 16.4’s first beta would release around this time, however that didn’t happen. With the release of iOS 16.4 being delayed, there are also persistent claims that iOS 16.3.1 is in development.
