Google appears to be testing a new ‘Select All’ button for Gmail on Android, which allows you to mark many emails at once.

Google frequently adds new features to the Gmail app for Android, but one of the most popular features available on the web version is the option to select all emails with the press of a button.

Gmail users on Android must currently press on the left side of an email and manually mark the ones they want to select. While it may not be a major issue for many, it is inconvenient for those who frequently want to clear their email. This could change soon, as Google is apparently testing a new ‘Select All’ button for the mobile app.

According to @AssembleDebug’s recent tweet on X (previously Twitter), the latest beta version of Gmail for Android has the much-needed ‘Select All’ option. The feature is demonstrated in the video posted below.

When you start selecting several emails, the ‘Select All’ option will show just below the toolbar, but Google appears to have limited the feature to no more than 50 emails at once. This is because Gmail appears to collect a set number of emails from servers, but you may easily include 50 more messages by using the ‘Select All’ button.

Another thing to keep in mind is that when you hit the ‘Deselect All’ button, Gmail will deselect all emails you’ve selected rather than sticking to the aforementioned restriction.

Since Google frequently tests many features, with some features becoming accessible in batches, it is unknown if and when the ‘Select All’ button for Gmail on Android will be made available to everyone. There is also no word on whether the functionality will be added to the iOS app.
