The Wall Street Journal stated on Sunday that Meta Platforms is developing a new artificial-intelligence system that will be as powerful as OpenAI’s most sophisticated model.

According to the Journal, Facebook’s parent company hopes to have its new AI model ready next year, and it will be several times more powerful than its commercial version, named Llama 2.

The anticipated system, the newspaper stated, would assist other companies in developing services that offer complex writing, analysis, and other output.

The new AI system, known as a big language model, is expected to begin training in early 2024, according to the report.

Meta did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Reuters.

Since the launch of OpenAI’s ChatGPT late last year, businesses and enterprises have flocked to the young generative AI industry for newer capabilities and refining business processes.

As reported by Bloomberg News, Apple is working on AI services akin to OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google’s Bard, and it has constructed its own framework known as ‘Ajax’ to create huge language models, as well as testing a chatbot known as Apple GPT by some engineers.
