Apple has a history of influencing the future through its innovative product offerings. If rumors are to be believed, 2024 could be one of the company’s most successful years ever in all categories. From long-awaited new devices like Vision Pro to refreshes of its core iPhone, iPad, and Mac products, Apple appears poised to make waves in the industry. Here’s an overview of what to expect from Apple in the coming year.

Vision Pro

The most anticipated Apple product in 2024 is the Vision Pro, a long-rumored augmented reality headset. After being unveiled at WWDC 2022, Vision Pro is set to be released in early 2024, most likely in February.

Vision Pro is Apple’s first major new product category since the Apple Watch in 2015. It will have two 4K OLED displays, multiple external cameras for mixed reality, and a custom Apple processor. Apple is positioning the Vision Pro as a tool for communication and content consumption.

Vision Pro is not cheap, with a starting price of $3,499. But for Apple fans who want to be at the cutting edge, it promises to usher in a new era of spatial computing.

Complete iPad lineup overhaul.

While 2023 was a quiet year for the iPad, with no new iPad launches, 2024 is shaping up to be quite different. Apple is planning the most extensive overhaul of its iPad lineup to date. This includes a larger 12.9-inch iPad Air. Currently, the iPad Air has a maximum size of 10.9 inches, so this represents a significant increase.

The iPad Pro will see more significant changes. For starters, the 11-inch and 13-inch iPad Pro models will feature OLED displays. This will provide best-in-class contrast and colors. Second, the iPad Pro will receive Apple’s latest M3 silicon for improved performance.

Along with the new hardware, Apple is preparing a new Magic Keyboard case and third-generation Apple Pencil. According to reports, the new Magic Keyboard will make the iPad Pro more like a laptop.

iOS 18’s AI upgrades

WWDC 2024, Apple’s annual developer conference, will provide our first look at iOS 18. Rumours suggest that iOS 18 will include significant AI enhancements. Siri could be rebuilt with a new artificial intelligence system that uses large language models to facilitate more natural conversations. The Messages app may develop AI capabilities to auto-complete sentences and answer questions. These additions would help iOS catch up with Google and Microsoft in terms of artificial intelligence.

iPhone 16 Pro models increase in size.

The tentpole Apple product of 2024 will be the iPhone 16 lineup, which will be announced in September as usual. The iPhone 16 Pro is expected to feature a 6.3-inch display, up from 6.1 inches on the iPhone 15 Pro. The iPhone 16 Pro Max will receive a similar treatment, with the display size increasing to a massive 6.9 inches. Under the hood, expect newer Apple silicon and 48MP ultra-wide cameras all around.

New 13 and 15-inch MacBooks are expected.

Apple is developing new 13- and 15-inch MacBook Air models with the M3 processor. The new MacBook Air series is expected to launch around March 2024. The company is also working on new versions of the Mac Studio and Mac Pro with M3 Max and M3 Ultra processors, but these desktop Macs are not expected to be available until the end of 2024, if not 2025.

With these upgrades and the Vision Pro headset, Apple’s product lineup for 2024 appears to be stacked. After a somewhat slow 2023, Apple is gearing up for a big year in all of its product categories.
