Instagram is currently testing a new feature that allows users to create polls in the comments section of their photos.

Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri introduced the new function via his livestream channel, which is now in beta testing for select users. Mark Zukerberg, CEO of Meta, announced the feature’s availability to all users via his Instagram broadcast channel.

Polls in the comments section, according to Engadget, would be similar to the poll sticker seen in Instagram Stories. Other users would be able to see how many people have already voted on a specific poll. There is currently no information available on how long the polls in the comments area will remain live. Instagram is said to be working on other features as well, including the ability to create numerous lists similar to the current ‘Close Friends’ list. Users will be able to share customised material for a specified group of individuals with this functionality.

In related news, Meta just announced that it will be bringing broadcast channels, a tool that allows individuals to publicly distribute messages, to Facebook and Messenger.

We are currently testing the ability for Pages to create broadcast channels and expect to roll this out in the coming weeks,” Meta stated in a statement. The business last month made WhatsApp channels available to consumers in over 150 countries, a functionality that is already present on Instagram.
