WhatsApp Rolls Out New Business Features in India, Introducing Flows, Payments, and Meta Verified

WhatsApp introduced multiple new capabilities for businesses in India at Meta’s second annual Conversations conference in Mumbai. Flows, which allows businesses to create personalised chat experiences for customers; Payments, which allows customers to pay businesses within the chat; and Meta Verified, which provides businesses with a badge of authenticity and additional perks.

Flows is a tool that allows businesses to develop extensive menus and forms within chat so that customers may execute different actions without leaving the discussion. A bank, for example, can create a means for consumers to set an appointment to establish a new account, a food delivery service can create a way for customers to place an order from any of their partner restaurants, and an airline can create a way for customers to check in for a flight and select a seat. Flows will be available in the coming weeks to businesses all over the world using the WhatsApp Business Platform.

Payments is a function that allows you to make a purchase straight in the chat. Customers in India can now add items to their cart and pay using any method they prefer, including all supported UPI apps, debit and credit cards, and others. WhatsApp is collaborating with Razorpay and PayU partners to make paying for anything as simple as sending a message. Payments are now available in Brazil and Singapore.

Meta Verified is a service that allows businesses to receive Meta verification, letting customers know they’re dealing with the right company. Businesses must establish their authenticity to Meta in order to earn a verified badge, increased account assistance, and impersonation protection.

Meta Verified will also come with premium features such as creating a custom WhatsApp page that is easily discoverable via a web search, and multi-device support so multiple employees can respond to customers.

Meta Verified will be tested soon with small businesses using the WhatsApp Business app before introducing it to businesses on the WhatsApp Business Platform in the future.

Mark Zuckerberg, the founder and CEO of Meta, stated that India was at the forefront of many of the technologies introduced by WhatsApp at the conference.

In a pre-recorded message, he stated, “You’re leading the world in terms of how people and businesses have embraced messaging as the better way to get things done.” With over 500 million users, India is one of WhatsApp’s most important markets.
