Users can test the feature’s availability on their devices by opening the contact list in WhatsApp and selecting the “New Contact” option.

Whatsapp, which is owned by Meta, has added a new feature called “manage contacts within the app,” which allows users to add and edit contacts without leaving the app on Android.

WABetaInfo discovered that some WhatsApp beta for Android users are discovering a new contact UI where they can set all the parameters as they would on the default Contacts app. This feature should be available to users running versions 2.23.8.2, 2.23.8.4, 2.23.8.5, and 2.23.8.6, but it should be available to more users and versions soon.

Users can test the feature’s availability on their devices by opening the contact list in WhatsApp and selecting the “New Contact” option.

If they see the “New contact” option, it means the feature is active and they can add contacts without leaving WhatsApp.

The contact can be stored in either the phone’s storage or the user’s paired Google account. You can also make changes to previously saved contacts, such as adding inputs to new fields like birthdays or email addresses, directly on WhatsApp.

This may appear to be fairly basic functionality for an instant messaging application, but it is far superior to not having such a feature. Switching between WhatsApp and your phone’s contacts app is not a good idea.

Furthermore, when users reach out to others on WhatsApp, they can add unknown numbers to their contacts list without switching to the contacts app, according to the report.

Meanwhile, WhatsApp is reportedly working on a new feature that will allow users to share status updates to Facebook stories without having to leave the app.

Previously, users could share status updates to Facebook stories, but they had to manually share the update each time they posted something new.

However, thanks to this new feature, the process may now be automatic for certain status updates that users select when the option is enabled.
