Threads by Instagram is having difficulty maintaining its initial user engagement. A recent Similarweb survey reveals a severe setback, demonstrating a whopping 79% reduction in visitors within a month. This precipitous drop reflects a significant fall in user involvement and activity on the X (previously Twitter) alternative.

According to the research, the Threads Android app peaked at 49.3 million daily active users on July 7, but has since dropped to just 10.3 million daily active users. Similarly, the average time spent on the platform has decreased from 21 minutes per day to 3 minutes per day in the United States.

In comparison, Threads’ modern X has over 100 million active users who spend an average of about 25 minutes every day, indicating increased engagement.

Threads saw instant appeal, with over 100 million sign-ups within a few days of its formal introduction. However, the site was unable to sustain that traffic and has seen a significant fall since then. Mark Zuckerberg recognised in a series of Threads posts that the network received unprecedented response after its launch, and that the business is presently striving to stabilise the site by introducing new features and retaining the user base.

The company recently added features such as chronological timelines, separate timelines for follower accounts, and more.

The business continues to add new features and capabilities to Threads virtually every fortnite, and the Instagram Head, Adam Mosseri, also indicated that the company will soon introduce the web version of Threads.
