WhatsApp, Instagram Back Online After Global Outage

Meta’s WhatsApp and Instagram services were restored after a global outage for several users on Wednesday night. During the outage, users were unable to send messages or media files.

During the outage, users who attempted to log in to the platform’s browser or mobile app received an error message. Users were also unable to send messages or use audio and video calling services such as WhatsApp.

More than 17,000 users reported issues with the messaging platform, according to Reuters, citing Downdetector, which tracks outages by compiling status reports from a variety of sources, including user-submitted errors.

According to Reuters, over 30,000 users in India, 67,000 in the United Kingdom, and 95,000 in Brazil reported issues with the platform.

According to Downdetector, approximately 3,200 people in the United States were experiencing issues with Instagram.

“We know some people are having problems right now, and we’re working to get things back to 100% for everyone as soon as possible,” WhatsApp said in a post on X following the outage.

Earlier this year, Facebook, Instagram, and Threads users reported being unable to access their respective social media apps.
