Truecaller is now offering a new web client that allows users to search for unknown numbers and receive real-time call alert notifications.
Truecaller, a popular caller ID app with millions of users worldwide, has released a new web client. The web version of the app, which is available for Android users in India, adds several new features, including the ability to look up unknown numbers and mirror Truecaller chat and SMS. The company claims that the web client is compatible with all popular modern browsers and can be accessed from both Mac and PC.
To use Truecaller Web, navigate to ‘web.truecaller.com’ and launch the app from your phone. In the app, navigate to the Messages section and tap the three-dot menu. Now, click ‘Truecaller for Web’, then ‘Link Device’, and point your phone at the QR code that appears in the browser.
The web version of the app allows users to send and receive SMS if Truecaller is set as the default SMS app, as well as attach files of up to 100MB. You can also enable real-time call alert notifications for incoming calls.
Truecaller appears to be limiting the number of active sessions and will automatically log users out after 30 days of inactivity. Users will be able to manually unlink a browser, just as they can with WhatsApp and Telegram. According to the company, the web client is currently in beta, with new features set to be released in the coming days.
The website already allowed users to search for unknown numbers, but there were some rate limitations. However, the web version of Truecaller appears to have no such restrictions, allowing users to search for as many numbers as they want.
Truecaller has recently added several new features, including an AI-powered spam call detector and the ability to transcript and summarize call recordings.
