WhatsApp is developing a new pinned events section functionality that will display event details with a single tap. The new functionality is useful for community members because it provides a quick reminder of upcoming events.

According to WABetaInfo, a website that tracks upcoming WhatsApp features, the functionality automatically pins upcoming events in a community group chat, but the option appears to be limited to a small number of users on the Android beta version.

In the screenshot below, the new pinned events section appears at the top of the community information screen. When a member of the community creates a new event, it is automatically added to the section, allowing users to keep track of upcoming events.

It can save users a lot of time because the current implementation requires them to manually open and search for an event in the group chats.

The new pinned events section for group community chats is now available on WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.21.12, so if you’re already in the beta, make sure to update to the most recent version to see if it’s available on your account.

WhatsApp has added a slew of new features in recent weeks, including voice updates and polls for Channels, as well as increased the number of text styling options to seven. The Meta-owned instant messaging platform has also begun to count WhatsApp chat backups against Google Drive storage space.
