WhatsApp gets chat filtering on Android for easy navigation

WhatsApp users can now filter chats from the home page. WhatsApp version 2.23.14.17, which is currently available for select beta testers on Android (via the Google Play Store), greets users with a new and simplified home UI that displays various filters, allowing users to quickly jump into a specific conversation without scrolling through hundreds of chats.

This feature is presently only available to a select group of users who have signed up for the Google beta test program, according to a report by WABetaInfo. Chats are categorized into three main categories in the most recent WhatsApp beta version: group, unread, and all.

As the name implies, WhatsApp will show all of the chats if you choose the all filter, and only the unread chats if you choose the unread filter. Finally, all of the group chats will be visible if you tap the group filter. Users must scroll to the bottom of the chat page to use this new feature.

WhatsApp will display locked chats, which were added a few months ago, directly beneath that. From the same menu, you can also access past conversations. Additionally, status and community can be accessed from the same menu. WhatsApp locked chats can be secured with a pincode or with biometrics like fingerprint or face unlock.

WhatsApp recently released an update that includes testing a new security feature. The feature provides users with quick access to additional security on WhatsApp by displaying a “end-to-end encrypted” banner with a padlock icon directly below the user name. Furthermore, an iOS update from WhatsApp recently resolved the copy-paste problem on the platform.
