Most of us use Google Maps every day for a variety of purposes, from navigating to a friend’s house to visiting a new location. If you’ve enabled location, the app history may be useful if you want to search for something or somewhere you’ve previously visited.
However, in some cases, you may want to clear your location and search history from the app. If you want to get rid of your secret visits or simply stop others from spying on where you went, here’s how to delete the location and search data from Google Maps.
How to Delete Google Maps Search History
Google Maps allows users to prevent searched items from appearing in their recent search list, but doing so does not remove the location or its reviews from your visited places. However, if you want to remove your recent party locations or secret hideouts from search history, here’s how.
1. Open Google Maps on your phone and tap the Profile picture icon in the top right.
2. Next, navigate to the Settings page, scroll down, and select ‘Maps history’.
3. Tap the blue Delete button on the right side, and Google will provide you with four options for deleting your previous searches over a specific time period.

If you’ve enabled location, Google Maps may be keeping track of where and when you visited a specific location. If you want to remove the information from your account, follow these steps.
1. Open Google Maps and tap the profile picture icon in the top right corner of the screen.
2. Click ‘Your timeline’ to open a new window displaying your location history.
3. To remove an individual visit, select the three-dot menu to the right of the information and click the remove button. The three-dot menu on the top right allows you to clear the location history for the entire day.
