Google likely to go for Major Design Change on Pixel 9 Pro

Google is reportedly working on a number of cosmetic changes for the next generation of Pixel smartphones. A 6.5-inch flat display, a new camera module, and a new design language are expected to be features of the Pixel 9 series Pro model, according to a news report on MySmartPrice. It is anticipated that Google will introduce the Pixel 9 series in the latter part of 2024.

The report claimed that the Pixel 9 Pro would have a flat frame design that curved slightly into the rear panel and display. The SIM tray would probably move to the bottom edge, to the right of the USB-C port, while the power and volume buttons would probably stay on the right side of the frame. Like the current generation model, the left side of the smartphone would stay blank.

The Google Pixel 9 Pro is rumored to have a smaller 6.5-inch display panel as opposed to the current generation’s 6.7-inch panel. It is anticipated to keep the Pixel 8 Pro’s flat design, though.

The largest design change to the smartphone, according to the report, would be a floating island-style camera module inspired by the Pixel Fold placed on the back.

The pill-shaped camera module would not be attached to the edge on the left or right, unlike the Pixel smartphone lineup that exists today. The triple camera arrangement would remain horizontal, with a temperature sensor and flash positioned vertically next to each other.

It is anticipated that the Google Pixel 9 Pro will have a thinnest point of 8.5mm, making it marginally thinner than the Pixel 8 Pro. The thickness could reach 12mm when the camera bump is taken into account.
